Theological Commission
Many of our readers will be interested in a video that can be found here. It is a recent interview of Commission chairman Matt Pinson entitled “Can you be a ‘Reformed’ Arminian?” In this video, Pinson engages in a casual conversation with Southern Baptist pastor and apologist Nicholas Noyola about Reformed Arminianism.
This was a really fascinating interview both from a historical theological perspective and a soteriology also perspective. What was most interesting was the discussion of what Reformed Arminians have most in common with Reformed Calvinists, and therefore where Reformed Arminians and Wesleyan Arminians differ. In particular, the understanding of the nature of the atonement (penal substitutionary atonement), the understanding of sanctification (progressive) and even views of biblical theology and eschatology.
